The surprise announcement was made during an assembly recognizing the recent achievements of staff and students at the school on Tuesday, December 10. Her impact extends beyond the classroom as she works closely with parents and colleagues to ensure her students' success.
"Education is not just about imparting knowledge," said Ms. Jones, "it is about nurturing the whole child. It is about creating an environment where students feel emotionally and physically safe, where they are encouraged to explore their interests, and where they learn to value themselves and others."
Making the announcement was Heather Smith, the 2024 North Carolina Teacher of the Year. Joining the celebration were Will Marrs, the 2024 Piedmont-Triad Region Teacher of the Year, Tosha Diggs, Piedmont Triad Regional Director at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, along with Ms. Jones' friends, family, and colleagues.

We are so proud to have her represent our district and the Piedmont Triad region as the 2025 Regional Teacher of the Year."
