The North Carolina School Counselor Association has named Annie Goldberg, a dedicated counselor at Alamance-Burlington School System’s Broadview Middle School, the 2024 North Carolina School Counselor of the Year. This recognition celebrates Ms. Goldberg’s exceptional work and the significant impact she has made on students, families, and her school community.

 

Ms. Goldberg officially received the recognition during the North Carolina School Counselor Association annual conference, November 6-8, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon receiving the award, she stated, “The role school counselors play in our schools is essential. I am grateful to everyone who has recognized and supported the invaluable work of our ABSS school counselors. Together, we can look forward to continued collaboration empowering our counselors, and enhancing outcomes for every student in our district.”

 

In addition to this statewide honor, Ms. Goldberg, who has served as a School Counselor for 8 years at Broadview Middle School, was previously named the 2023 School Counselor of the Year for the Alamance-Burlington School System. Her reputation extends well beyond the district, as she also serves as a nationally recognized school counselor, holding a part-time fellowship with the U.S. Department of Education's School Ambassador Fellowship program. This fellowship enables her to participate in a national professional learning community, where she collaborates with counselors across the country to share insights and advocate for students’ mental health and academic success.

 

Ms. Goldberg is one of only 57 school counselors in the country to earn the esteemed ASCA-Certified School Counselor® designation from the American School Counselor Association this year. This certification demonstrates expertise and dedication to her field, positioning her as a model and mentor within the profession.

This honor highlights the commitment of Alamance-Burlington Schools to fostering a supportive and enriching educational environment through dedicated professionals like Annie Goldberg. The district celebrates her accomplishments and her role in inspiring students and supporting their growth in all aspects of their school experience.
