The Alamance-Burlington School System is proud to highlight the achievements of our students participating in the Career Accelerator Program (CAP), soon to be known as Apprentice Alamance. This innovative initiative continues to open doors for our high school students, providing them with exceptional opportunities for on-the-job training and apprenticeships with local businesses.
Empowering Our Students for Future Success
The mission of Apprentice Alamance is to provide high school students in Alamance County with valuable apprenticeship opportunities that prepare them for successful careers in their chosen fields. Apprentice Alamance is dedicated to transforming the workforce in Alamance County by offering innovative apprenticeship programs that combine classroom instruction with on-the-job training. We aim to bridge the gap between education and industry, ensuring that our apprentices are well-equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to learn, earn, and excel in their careers.
Program Impact and Participation
Since its inception, the Career Accelerator Program has made a significant impact on our community:
A total of 51 ABSS students have participated in the program
Currently, 12 ABSS students are active in the program
The program boasts 23 graduates, with 21 of them coming from ABSS
15 local businesses have provided opportunities for our students since the program began
Currently, 11 businesses are actively participating in the program
These numbers highlight the strong partnership between ABSS and local industry, as well as the program's success in attracting and retaining students from our school system.

Zeke Peyton (Western Alamance High) is now working at ECI/RegO
Nathan Huffines (Southern Alamance High) has secured a position with GKN Automotive
Wyatt Willard and Darrius Ray (Eastern Alamance High) are now with GKN Automotive and Glen Raven, respectively
Victor Melgar (Cummings High School) has joined IntraPac
Williams High School Career Development Coordinator, Mary Margaret Harris shared, "Through the years, I have watched the CAP Program evolve and change as the community's needs have changed. One thing hasn't changed. The difference this makes in the lives of the students involved. Their talents are highlighted, they mature, they become productive members of the community and leaders in their companies."
Welcoming New Student Apprentices
We're excited to announce that two more of our students have been accepted into the Career Accelerator Program:
Matthew Eddins from Walter M. Williams High School
Owen Mann from Southern Alamance High School
Both Matthew and Owen will be apprenticing with Machine Specialties Inc, where they'll gain valuable industry experience while completing their high school education.

The success of our students in the Career Accelerator Program is made possible through collaboration with various community partners. We're grateful for the support of the Alamance Chamber, Alamance Community College, and Apprenticeship NC.
We also extend our thanks to the Business Consortium, which includes companies such as AKG, Elevate Textiles, ECI/RegO, Shawmut Infinite, Flynt Amtex, GKN Driveline, Glen Raven, Indulor, IntraPac, Machine Specialties Inc, and Sandvik Coromant. Their commitment to our students' growth and Alamance County's workforce is invaluable.
