The Alamance-Burlington School System is pleased to announce the appointment of Bethany Hamilton as the new principal of Sylvan Elementary, effective July 1st. Hamilton, currently serving as Assistant Principal at Haw River Elementary, brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the district to her new role.

A product of ABSS herself, Hamilton's educational journey has come full circle. She attended Newlin Elementary, Broadview Middle, and graduated from Cummings High School in 2000. Her higher education includes a Degree in Elementary Education from Greensboro College, a Master of Education in Administration & Supervision from Liberty University, and additional licensure as a Curriculum & Instruction Specialist through Meredith College.

Hamilton's career in education began in 2004 as an English as a Second Language teacher assistant at Andrews Elementary. She later transitioned to classroom teaching, spending nine years instructing third grade and kindergarten at Andrews. Hamilton also served as a regional teaching and learning coach, supporting beginning teachers before taking on her current role as Assistant Principal at Haw River Elementary.

 "I'm excited to bring my experience and passion for education to Sylvan Elementary," Hamilton said. "As a product of ABSS, I understand the importance of strong leadership and community engagement in our schools."

Hamilton is currently pursuing her doctorate in educational leadership at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, further demonstrating her commitment to lifelong learning and educational excellence.
