New Principals Named for Elon Elementary and R. Homer Andrews Elementary

In the June 11th Board of Education Work Session, Ms. Cara Hurdle was named as the new principal of Elon Elementary, and Ms. Leslie Ray was named as the new principal of R. Homer Andrews Elementary, both effective on July 1st.

Ms. Hurdle joined Alamance-Burlington School System as an Exceptional Children's Teacher at South Mebane Elementary School in 2009, later transitioning to a Kindergarten General Education Teacher role in 2016. She has served as the Assistant Principal at South Mebane Elementary since 2022. Ms. Hurdle holds a Masters in Special Education from Elon University and brings over 15 years of experience to her new role.

Similarly, Ms. Ray joined the school system as an Exceptional Children's Teacher at Hawfields Middle School in 2004. She served as an EC Program Specialist from 2013-2021 and most recently as the Assistant Principal at Grove Park Elementary (2021-2023) and Smith Elementary (2023-2024). Ms. Ray holds a Masters of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Appalachian State University, bringing over 20 years of experience to her new position.

Both Ms. Hurdle and Ms. Ray have demonstrated strong leadership skills, dedication to student achievement, and a passion for fostering positive school cultures.
