After an impressive 13-year tenure as the principal of Elon Elementary, Dr. Jack Davern has announced his retirement from the Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS). Dr. Davern's career in education spans over two decades, during which he has served as a classroom teacher for seven years, curriculum specialist for four years, assistant principal for two years, and principal for the remainder of his career.
Dr. Davern's educational journey includes a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Edinboro University, a Master's Degree in School Administration from the University of Phoenix, an Education Specialist Degree, and a Doctorate in Cultural Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG).
Reflecting on his cherished memories, Dr. Davern shared, "The amazing people I have met throughout my career. The hilarious kids and the way they see the world. The talented educators and leaders I have had the pleasure to work with - many from places around the world. The supportive families across our school community! Funny Fridays and of course all the other reasons it is ALWAYS a GREAT day at Elon!!"
As he looks forward to retirement, Dr. Davern plans to spend quality time with his family, work on home projects, enjoy the water, become a fluent Spanish speaker, and explore new adventures. He will always remain a part of the Lil Phoenix family, the beloved mascot of Elon Elementary.
