The Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS) has been awarded a $149,300 grant to support its digital learning initiatives. The grant application, written by Brittany Jackson, K-12 Blended Learning Specialist at ABSS, was selected for funding after a thorough evaluation by the grant evaluation team.

The awarded funds will be allocated when the State budget is passed and must be spent in its entirety by June 30, 2025. The grant will focus on improving school and district administrators' understanding of effective technology-infused instruction and blended learning to address inconsistent and ineffective technology use in schools.

Administrators will participate in a multi-year plan alongside teacher leaders to explore effective use of technology tools aligning with data-driven instructional needs, high-quality blended learning instructional methods, and emerging technologies like AI. The proposal demonstrates a clear vision for implementation, broad impact, capacity building, and sustainability.

Brittany Jackson, a proud product of ABSS herself, has dedicated her entire 16+ year career to serving the school district. She has worked in various roles, from classroom teacher and media specialist to teaching & learning coach, and now, K-12 blended learning specialist.

"This three-year grant perfectly aligns with ABSS's commitment to doing the right work: ensuring effective technology integration positively impacts student success," said Jackson. "The grant empowers school leaders to become champions of impactful technology integration by providing them with professional learning experiences around best practices, coaching, and opportunities to collaborate with various stakeholders within and beyond our district."

The multi-year initiative aims to build a strong foundation, provide ongoing support, and ultimately ensure wider adoption and sustainability of effective technology integration in ABSS schools. This aligns with the district's goals of developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students, as outlined in the ABSS Portrait of a Graduate and Strategic Plan.

The Alamance-Burlington School System is excited to implement this grant and leverage technology to ensure student success and prepare graduates for the future.
