Alamance-Burlington Schools welcomed nearly 70 beginning teachers to the district Tuesday morning for the 2023-2024 school year. These enthusiastic new educators will help shape the lives of students across the District's schools.

To set these teachers up for success, ABSS provides comprehensive support through its Beginning Teacher Program. New teachers are paired with experienced Beginning Teacher Coordinators who offer mentoring, coaching, and professional development throughout the school year.

"We believe it is vital to nurture our new teachers from day one," said Revonda Johnson, Chief Academic Officer.  "Our Beginning Teacher Coordinators build strong relationships with new staff and provide the ongoing support they need to thrive in the classroom."

The program focuses on topics like classroom management, lesson planning, differentiated instruction, and assessing student learning. Beginning teachers also collaborate with their peers in the program to share ideas and problem-solve together.

"We want to make sure new teachers don't feel alone. Our coordinators create a culture of support by checking in regularly and providing resources tailored to each teacher's needs,” Johnson added.

Alamance-Burlington Schools prides itself on being a District where new teachers can continually develop their skills. The Beginning Teacher Program reflects the district's commitment to setting up educators for long-term success.
