We are proud to announce the 2024 ABSS Teachers of the Year! 🌟
These exceptional teachers are making a real difference in their students' lives. They care deeply about their students’ growth and success every day. Whether helping a struggling learner find their confidence, making lessons fun through imaginative activities, or supporting students through life's challenges, their student-first commitment is worthy of praise.
Please join us in celebrating them! 👏
In Mrs. Lohman's 5th grade class, students embarked on an educational journey that highlighted the significant role quilting has played in Black History. Each student researched an important historical figure then together they"stitched" a quilt. #HappyBlackHistoryMonth
A huge shoutout to our amazing Hillcrest Elementary Administrators and office staff for flipping pancakes and spreading smiles across the staff today. "Happy Pancake Day!
What can we accomplish when we synergize? Ms. Kaczynski's 3rd grade math students worked in teams to find the perimeter of objects in their classroom using nonstandard tools for measurement. They used pencils, whiteboards, books, markers, and even garbage cans!
Ms. Ludwig's 5th grade class created collages for Black History Month. Students included a short biographical blurb and researched quotes and other descriptions to add to this mixed media project.
Today was a special day in ABSS as we celebrated the 💯 day of school.
To mark the occasion, Hillcrest Elementary School hosted their "100 Days, 100 Dads" event, inviting dads, grandpas, uncles, and other father figures from the #ABSSCommunity to have lunch with our students. And show up they did - with over 400 guests signed up, the cafeteria was "buzzing" 🐝 during all the grade-level lunch times!
There was an outpouring of support to make this day memorable for our kids. The timing couldn't have been better either, coming right after Valentine's Day and Hillcrest's Valentine's Dance last night. 💕
Special thanks to our student leaders who welcomed all the guests and directed traffic through the packed hallways. It was heartwarming to see so many community members take time out of their day to eat with our students. The smiles and hugs were plentiful. Thank you for showing up for our kids! 🙌
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at our 100 Days, 100 Dads Event! Don't forget to check the attached lunch schedule. See you there!
Reminder: Our Valentine's Dance for 3rd to 5th graders will take place tomorrow night, Thursday, February 15th, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
Yesterday was all about self-love and positivity at Hillcrest! Our student lighthouse team started by watching a powerful video on popping negative talk, followed by crafting our Positive Self-Talk pages. It's a reminder we all need! And to seal the day with self-love, we wrote Valentines to ourselves, spreading love from within.
Feeling so grateful for the Hillcrest PTO's thoughtful treats today! From snacks to sanitizer, you've truly sweetened our day! #ThankYou #PTOPower"
