State Employees Health Plan
The mission of the State Health Plan is to improve the health and health care of North Carolina teachers, state employees, retirees, and their dependents, in a financially sustainable manner, thereby serving as a model to the people of North Carolina for improving their health and well-being.
Eligible employees working 30 or more hours per week can enroll in one of two health plans offered by The State Health Plan (administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC).
Insurance Premiums
Insurance premiums will depend upon the plan and coverage you choose. Coverage options include employee, employee + children, employee + spouse, and employee + family.
Enrollment
Eligible employees are permanent, full-time employees working 30 or more hours per week. Employees may enroll within 30 days of hire date or qualifying life event. Elections may not be changed after the initial enrollment period or outside of Open Enrollment without a qualifying life event. Open Enrollment dates are determined by the NC State Health Plan and are historically held each fall.
Supplemental Insurance Offerings with Pierce Group Benefits
Alamance-Burlington School System offers all eligible employees a comprehensive benefits package through Pierce Group Benefits. These benefits are voluntary, employee-paid benefits that are payroll deducted.
New employees have the option to enroll in the following supplemental benefits within 30 days of his/her hire date:
